The new bridge superstructure consists of a cast-in-place concrete slab supported by cantilevered diaphragm type abutments at each end of the bridge.  The abutments are supported by 14” square precast/prestressed concrete driven piles.  Cantilevered wingwalls and a retaining wall provide support for the edge of the roadway adjacent to the creek.

Since the existing bridge is supported by spread footings, the new bridge was designed to be isolated from it in order to allow for differential settlement of the two bridges.
