PASE Volunteers Help Restore Local Home in San Jose

Apr 26, 2025

SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA – April 26, 2025 — On a bright Saturday morning, a team of volunteers from PASE rolled up their sleeves and picked up paintbrushes, rakes, and tools. Not for a jobsite, but for something far more personal. As part of Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley’s Spring 2025 Rebuilding Day, PASE employees volunteered to repair homes for neighbors in need.

The PASE team was assigned to Project #851-E RD, the mobile home of Mrs. Trigg, an 87-year-old widow living in San Jose. A devoted mother and grandmother, Mrs. Trigg has lived independently in her home since the passing of her husband, an Army veteran, four years ago. Though she battles congestive heart failure and struggles with limited mobility, her love for her family, home, and garden remains unwavering. Rebuilding Day allowed her to connect with others and refresh the home she’s cared for with pride for so many years.

While professional crews handled major improvements, like roof replacement and installation of a wheelchair lift, PASE volunteers took on exterior painting, yard cleanup, and small repairs. What may have seemed like basic upkeep became a powerful gesture of care and solidarity, offering renewed warmth and dignity to a home full of memories.

In addition to giving back, this event allowed us to collaborate with familiar faces. We were excited to work alongside one of our longtime clients, The CORE Companies. Over the years, we’ve partnered with CORE on numerous affordable and market-rate housing developments across the Bay Area, and it was especially meaningful to support the community together in a new way.

“Our team helped with a few cleanup items, but the big focus was getting the outside of the home repainted,” said Stephen O’Brien, a PASE volunteer.

“I spent most of the day working on the front of the house, trying to get the details right. Rick, the Rebuilding Together leader, did a great job guiding us and gave me a nudge to pick up the pace so I didn’t spend all day on one window!”

Throughout the day, PASE volunteers were welcomed with smiles, shared stories with neighbors, and experienced firsthand how even small improvements, like a new coat of paint, can have a lasting emotional impact.

“Volunteering is something I’ve always been passionate about, and I’m constantly looking for ways to give back,” said Rita Gonzalez. “It was incredibly inspiring to see how much we could accomplish together in just one day.”

PASE is proud to support Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley and contribute our time and skills to projects that make a real difference. We believe in using our expertise to strengthen the communities we’re part of.
