Seismic Evaluation of Two Concrete Tilt-Up Buildings

This multi-phase project involved the Seismic Evaluations of two concrete tilt-up buildings with panelized roofs. The initial pre-Vision 2000 evaluations were based on prototype Performance Based Design criteria that became the genesis of Vision 2000. Subsequent evaluations and seismic rehabilitation recommendations used criteria developed in Vision 2000 as well as ATC 33.03 and NERHP-FEMA 273, both documents on which Vision 2000 was based. For each building, the importance of the facility and the expected performance objectives were determined. The acceptable Earthquake Performance Levels (ranging from Fully Operational to Near Collapse) were then mapped to the Earthquake Design Levels (ranging from Frequent Earthquake to Very Rare Earthquake). Analyses were performed to determine the ability of the major components of the facilities to perform as intended for each level of design earthquake. The project also included preparing corporate-wide Seismic Guidelines for Performance Based Design and Rehabilitation for all corporate facilites. This document was based heavily on Vision 2000 and the documents referenced by Vision 2000.
