Structural Design of New Building and Expansion and Renovation of Two Existing Buildings

The Lynnewood United Methodist Church project consisted of two phases. Phase One consisted of the expansion and renovation of the existing Sanctuary Building. Phase Two consisted of the construction of a new Classroom Building and the expansion and renovation of the existing Multipurpose Building.

The Sanctuary Building Addition provided 2,524 additional square feet of office space to an existing 4,165 square feet one-story building. Conventional wood framing was used to match the construction of the existing building.

The new classroom building comprised 6,766 square feet of instructional space in a one-story building. The construction consisted of wood pre-fabricated roof trusses, plywood sheathed stud walls, a concrete slab-on-grade floor, and a concrete spread footing foundation.

The expansion and renovation of the Multipurpose Building involved renovation of about one-third of the existing 4,800 square foot building, and the conversion of 350 square feet of coveted porch area to interior space.
